Why stay at the Hermitage Hotel
Among the hotel offer near the Mont-Saint-Michel, the hotel L’Ermitage is the only 5 star option. Here are several reasons to stay there:
- for small-scale luxury
The Hermitage Hotel is one of the smallest 5 star hotels in Europe.
The hotel has only 7 rooms and suites, so the attention and service is truly personalized, with a boutique hotel feel.
The suites are really spacious with a cozy, cocoon-like decor.
- for the location: close but quiet
The hotel is located in the village of Beauvoir, set back from the main road.
It is therefore very easy to get to the Mont-Saint-Michel parking lots in only 5 minutes by car.
But you find yourself in a cocoon, far from the crowds, with your little terrace surrounded by greenery.
- for the restaurant
The Mont-Saint-Michel dining offer is very much oriented towards brasseries, bistros and crêperies in order to increase the volume of tourists.
If you are looking for something more gastronomic, the Table de l’Ermitage. The chef cooks fresh and seasonal products, selecting the best suppliers whether they are at the nearby Begossière farm, or at a prestigious Parisian address (Maison Kaviari for salmon and caviar).

Is the Hermitage Hotel worth it? Our review
If you are looking for peace and luxury in the immediate vicinity of Mont-Saint-Michel, this is the right option for you.
In the 19th century building, we enjoyed relaxing in the spacious suite, in the quiet without any noise. After the hubbub on the mountain, it feels good.
The owner was very friendly with lots of plans for improvement. As he has to manage “only” 7 rooms, the guests have all his attention!
And the little products offered in the room also won us over… What gourmands we are!
However, be aware that it is a very small hotel. You will not have the services of some luxury hotels: no pool, no spa.
But you have the advantage of the proximity of Mt.
Please note that there are only 7 rooms and suites in this very touristic place. It is therefore necessary to reserve early!

OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Normandy
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- Choose a car that is comfortable enough (distances can be long) but compact (some parking lots and villages are narrow).
- Think of thecomplete insurance (some roads are tortuous and narrow).
- There is a lot of demand, book it early.
The suites
The hotel has 7 rooms and suites. We slept in one of the suites.
It is on the first floor with the living room and bathroom downstairs and the bed in duplex.
The decor is cozy and with materials that give a cocooning aspect.
No exuberance here, the decoration seeks elegance and softness.
Personally, we like to see a little more research in the decoration, especially in the lighting ambiance. That being said, there are no false notes in the room.
The high ceilings are very pleasant, and the double French windows open onto the terrace. No roads, or city noise: quiet to relax.
The bedding is of high quality with an elegant headboard.
A high window brings even more light into the room. And a button near the bed allows you to close the shutter to block all light.
In the room we could also discover a lot of products to taste: cookies, cake, caramels, apple juice… There was something for everyone!

Bathroom
The bathroom is also very spacious: double sink, bathtub, shower.
The terry cloth dresses are of good quality.
The hardest part is choosing between taking a shower or a bath…

The breakfast
Breakfast is served in the restaurant or in your room.
The day before you fill out a sheet with your product wishes.
The breakfast is copious and with fresh quality products.
You can choose salty or sweet (or both!): cold cuts, cheeses, breads of several kinds, pastries, dairy products…
And the fruit juices are freshly squeezed. Essential!
Other services
Helicopter transfer service from Paris, Rennes, Saint-Malo…

Restaurant La Table de L’Ermitage
The restaurant is like the hotel, comfortable without being ostentatious. Chef Didier Gadois cooks with fresh and seasonal products, selecting the best suppliers whether they are at the nearby Begossière farm, or at a prestigious Parisian address (Maison Kaviari for salmon and caviar).
We really liked the salt marsh lamb. He was very tender. After having tasted it in several forms at several restaurants, this is where we preferred it.

History
The hotel is located in a 19th century building.
Originally, it was a post office. The horses were waiting for the steeds. The building then became an inn for travelers and staff of the French Post Office.
It was converted into a hotel in 2011 and has been rated 5 stars since 2016.

THE SAME MISTAKE WE MADE
On one of our last trips to Europe, a hacker stole our credit card details while we were using a hotel WiFi.
So our trip began with a “card blocked” call… Not funny at all!
