We grew up in Le Havre, only 30 minutes from Étretat. It is a place that we have visited many times… and yet, it still fascinates us.
This is our favorite destination in Normandy!

- the cliffs are transformed with shimmering colors at sunset and sunrise,
- the changes of tides and sky transform each time your discovery of the place. It is easy to understand why these landscapes inspired the Impressionists

The town – village of Etretat is not very big. You are never far from the sea.
You have several areas where you can sleep.

Étretat is a very touristy place, stuck in a valley. In summer, it becomes difficult to park.
If you come by car, check out the parking options: some hotels have private parking lots. But others do not. Therefore you have to find a place and pay.

This is one of the most inspiring hotels we have stayed in.
The 3 buildings have been decorated with care. Between the stylish curtains, the textured wallpapers and the work on light, it is a fascinating discovery in every corner of the hotel.
Our room overlooked the pool and the trees. A real moment of relaxation.
It is a cocoon of relaxation between the trees, with a veranda filled with comfortable armchairs and a snack with homemade cake…
What more could you ask for? Not going out to eat? Of course, because you have the choice of 2 on-site restaurants, one of which is gourmet.

2. Dormy House Hotel (for the view)
Why stay at the Dormy House Hotel?
The Dormy House Hotel is a must in Etretat. You can see it well on the heights when you walk on the beach.
This is the hotel with one of the best views: it overlooks the sea and is surrounded by a park of 4 hectares. Something to relax with a drink!
Here everything is turned towards the sea, including the breakfast room. You can enjoy the moods of the Norman sky, with the beautiful changing colors, which the impressionist painters loved.

If you are looking for luxury, nature and calm (as Etretat is very touristic), we recommend you the hotel Les Pins de César. It is located in the countryside 15 minutes from Étretat, and 5 minutes from the cliffs.
It is the perfect place to recharge your batteries because you are surrounded by trees (Austrian Pines) and greenery, with a park of 20 hectares.
We fell in love with the serenity that reigns there. We felt like we were entering another world when we got there.
And if you like spas and relaxation, the offer is excellent.

If you walk around the area of Etretat, you will see many houses made of red brick and flint. These are classic local buildings that we love. That’s why we love the facade of the Hotel d’Angelettere in this 1850 house.
The decorations are simple and light, with a unique feel to each room. You feel light and relaxed.
And moreover, you are at 2 steps from the sea and the cliffs!

This building is a mansion from 1738, a bourgeois house in the heart of Etretat.
Behind the house is a beautiful garden with an avenue of lime trees and a terrace. A green setting in the heart of the city!
Elegance is the key word here.

We found that as soon as you enter the park, you feel transported to another world.
Located in a Belle Époque seaside house, you will appreciate the charm of the decoration and the peaceful and inspiring atmosphere.

This 19th century building surprises by its two-tone aspect. This warm aspect is also found in the interior. A cozy decor around blue to not contrast too much with the sea views! (be careful though, not all rooms have a view of the sea).

It is a charming hotel with detective themes: the Arsène Lupin Suite, the Sherlock Holmes, Emma Peel, Hervule Poirot, CSI, Magnum, Clouseau, Columbo rooms… different atmospheres, unusual decorations to be transported into another world.

Cheap hotels in Étretat
Étretat is a very touristy destination and located in a valley. As a result, space is limited and prices are rising.
There are no very low cost hotels in Etretat that we can recommend.
To find lower cost options, look in the countryside around Etretat, move away a little.

Hotel Le Manoir de la Salamandre
One of the most intriguing buildings in Étretat is the hotel-restaurant La Salamandre.
Even if you don’t sleep there, take the time to admire it. This is an overhanging farmhouse (wider at the top) with wood-fired bricks and half-timbering. Look at the detail of the sculptures.
Inside, you will feel like you are going back in time.
Just be aware that the hotel is above a bar-restaurant, and that the building is old.
