If you don’t want to read the whole list of hotels and why we love them, here’s our quick answer with our favorites in every corner of Le Havre, and why you’ll have a wonderful stay here!
Best beachfront hotel: Hilton
Le Havre’s waterfront is not very well developed for tourism. But a fine hotel has sprung up near the marina. The Hilton offers spacious, elegantly decorated rooms. We love the textures and plants in the hotel. And best of all, we loved watching the sunset from the balcony!

Best downtown hotel: Pasino
If you want a spacious experience, choose the Pasino. Right in the center of town, this Casino hotel is housed in a landmark building with high ceilings. You’ll feel like you’ve got so much space you won’t know what to do with it!

Best hotel near Odalys station (Apparthotel)
For a warm, modern hotel just 2 steps from the station, we prefer the Odalys hotel.
What’s more, if you’re staying for several days, the small kitchen areas mean you don’t have to eat out every day. The atmosphere, decor and team make for a very pleasant stay.

Where to stay in Le Havre: best districts
Is spending the night in Le Havre worth it?
Le Havre may not be the most typical of French towns, but it has a lot to offer, and many visitors fall under its spell. The streets are wide and let in all the light, the waterfront is long and makes for long strolls, the Perret architecture is original and the works of art in the town add touches of color and will make you smile.
It’s one of the most beautiful places to stay in Normandy and a great destination for a weekend away!
And then you can plan your stay with our guide to What to do in Le Havre.
Sleeping by the sea
Le Havre’s waterfront is not as rich in hotels as other seaside resorts. You have just 2 options.
Benefits:
- Sea view from bedrooms
- Direct access to the long seafront promenade
- Free parking along the seafront
Disadvantages:
- Many people in summer
- We live in the area, so I don’t see many drawbacks…
Sleeping in downtown Le Havre
The city center revolves around the town hall, Le Volcan theater and Saint-Joseph church. Here you’ll find the famous Perret architecture that earned Le Havre its Unesco classification.
Benefits:
- Close to all museums and places of interest
- Only 10 to 15 minutes’ walk from the beach
- Close to all restaurants
- In the heart of Perret buildings (some hotels are even located in Perret buildings).
Disadvantages:
- Pay parking throughout the city center
- Some hotels are close to bars and can be noisy.
Sleeping near the station
There are many modern hotels and aparthotels close to the station.
Benefits:
- Close to the train station and tramways (Le Havre’s transportation hub).
- Modern hotels
Disadvantages:
- 20min walk to downtown, 30min walk to the beach (or take the streetcar).
- Less charming neighbourhood
Other tips to keep in mind
Parking in downtown Le Havre is not free.
There are underground parking lots under the Le Volcan theater and the town hall.
Parking along the waterfront is free.
And you’re in Normandy, so many hotels don’t have air conditioning. It’s not necessary for a few weeks a year.
OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Normandy
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- Choose a car that is comfortable enough (distances can be long) but compact (some parking lots and villages are narrow).
- Think of thecomplete insurance (some roads are tortuous and narrow).
- There is a lot of demand, book it early.
1. Hilton Hotel (4 stars, waterfront)
Why stay at the Hilton
We have a real crush on this hotel. The design is very successful, in the shape of a boat with beautiful balustrades on the balconies.
Inside, we were delighted by the decor, with lots of plants and objects in wood and natural textures.
Our room was elegant and attracted to the balcony and the view of the marina.
As Le Havre faces west, it’s the perfect place to watch the sun set.

Why stay at the Hotel Pasino
We were really delighted by our stay in this hotel. All the staff were very welcoming and we were impressed by the quality of the room and its facilities.
The suites are very spacious, as the hotel is located in an atypical place: the historic trading center of Le Havre.
But it was the view of the François le Chevalier footbridge that really stood out in our minds, a sight we enjoyed every morning when we woke up.

Odalys offers spacious studios and apartments with a modern yet warm design. If you don’t want to eat out every day during your stay, the small kitchens are ideal.
We loved the lounge and its colors from the moment we arrived in the hotel.
It’s a very functional option, just 2 steps from public transport.

Why stay at Hotel Vent d’Ouest
If you’re looking for a more cocooning, charming hotel, we recommend the Hotel Vent d’Ouest.
It’s ideally located between the town hall and the beach, right next to the famous St. Joseph’s church.
The rooms are not large, but the atmosphere is warm and intimate.
And we loved the breakfast, which was very varied with good products.

Do not make
THE SAME MISTAKE WE MADE
On one of our last trips to Europe, a hacker stole our credit card details while we were using a hotel WiFi.
So our trip began with a “card blocked” call… Not funny at all!

5. Best Western Plus Hotel (4 stars, train station)
Why stay at the Best Western Plus Gare hotel?
As is often the case with Best Western Plus hotels, we love the warm, modern decor: touches of blue, orange and gold.
The gym and lounge are very pleasant. The ambience of the hotel is really very successful.
You can’t miss the hotel as you leave the station – it’s right across the street!

6. Hotel Nomad (3 stars, train station)
Why stay at the Nomad Gare hotel
Geeks or not, if you’re into gadgets and sleek, modern style, we recommend the Nomad hotel next to the station.
The atmosphere is really cool, and we appreciated the warm welcome.
And once in the bedroom, we had a lot of fun using the tablet to change the color of the light above the shower, or project the TV onto the white wall.

7. Art’Hotel (3-star, downtown)
Why stay at Art’Hotel
This hotel is one of the best located in Le Havre. It is located in the heart of Perret architecture, in one of the buildings opposite Oscar Niemeyer’s architectural work Le Volcan.
If you’re coming to Le Havre for an artistic weekend (Impressionist works or modern art), this is the perfect place to stay. The hotel is a permanent exhibition space. And we’ll let you discover the elevator.
It’s worth noting that it’s rated slightly lower than the others. We’ve noticed that it’s for 2 main reasons: the parking lot and the bar below if you open the windows.
You’re right in the center of town, so it’s quite normal. It’s a lively city! We advise you to go down to the underground parking lot under the theater, the entrance is right in front of the hotel, so you don’t have to worry.
Practical information
- Neighborhood: downtown, right next to Le Volcan theater
- Price range: 3 stars
- Restaurant: no
- Family rooms: no
- Equipment: no
- Parking: no
- See photos, prices and availability – and book!

8. Hôtel La Petite Rade (3 stars, waterfront)
Why stay at Hotel La Petite Rade
If you want a sea view from your room, this is Le Havre’s other option.
This tiny hotel is located at the top of the boulevard. So the views from the balconies are really excellent. And we love the little sitting area by the bay windows, for windy days.
The hotel is located above Le Havre’s iconic bar, where all generations rub shoulders. You won’t get much peace and quiet if you open the window, but the atmosphere is very pleasant, in our opinion.
Practical information
- Neighborhood: seafront, at the top of the boulevard
- Price range: 3 stars
- Restaurant: yes
- Family rooms: no
- Equipment: /
- Parking: no
- See photos, prices and availability – and book!
