With its thalassotherapy facilities, refined hotels and wide-open spaces, the city lends itself equally well to a romantic, relaxing stay or a more gourmet or chic getaway. We are particularly fond of the off-season. The atmosphere becomes quieter and more confidential, further enhancing Deauville’s charm for couples.

What to do in Deauville
Deauville offers a wide range of experiences to share with your partner, from relaxing moments to seaside strolls and the simple pleasures that make a romantic holiday so special.
Relaxing for two: thalasso, spa and well-being
A weekend for two in Deauville is the perfect opportunity to take a break and share some real moments of well-being. The town is renowned for its thalassotherapy establishments, where people come as much to relax as to enjoy the surroundings.
In addition to the famous Hôtel Barrière Le Normandy, which offers a top-of-the-range experience, with heated spa and indoor pool, we opted for a more intimate setting, such as theHôtel Villa Augeval, with treatments, massages, sauna and jacuzzi.
Just a few minutes away, on the other side of the Touques River, the Cures Marines Trouville is another great alternative. We loved the architecture of the former municipal casino, the sea view and the quality of the marine treatments. See photos, prices and availability – and book!

Romantic strolls between sea and elegance
- Some walks are enough to set the tone for a stay. Along the beach, the famous boardwalk invites you to take a leisurely stroll in the footsteps of director Claude Lelouch(Un homme et une femme), having fun spotting the names of Sean Connery, Lauren Bacall or Kim Novak inscribed on the boards, with the horizon as your only landmark.
- As you move away from the waterfront, you discover another face of the resort. The streets lined with Belle Époque villas, with their elegant facades and architectural details, offer a perfect setting for a stroll. Each detour offers a new perspective, between discreet gardens and ancient silhouettes.
- To extend the stroll, the port area and the banks of the Touques provide a variety of atmospheres. These quieter itineraries invite you to take your time, observe local life and enjoy a break by the water. Simple moments, often the most memorable of a weekend.
- In addition to the walks, there are a number of activities to keep the pace of your stay and help you discover the destination in a different way. The Musée Les Franciscaines offers a wonderful cultural interlude, with exhibitions, reading areas and contemporary architecture. A pleasant place to take a quiet break and get inspired. - For a change of atmosphere, a horseback ride on the beach or through the surrounding Normandy countryside is a great way to escape for a few hours. The experience is accessible, supervised and particularly pleasant when the light becomes softer at the end of the day.
- A visit to the Casino Barrière Deauville or theHippodrome de Deauville-La Touques will complete the day. Even without being a racing fan, the atmosphere, grandstands and setting offer an elegant glimpse into the local equestrian tradition.

When to go to Deauville for two
We like to enjoy Deauville all year round, but there are certain times of the year that lend themselves particularly well to a getaway for two. Timing influences both the atmosphere and the pace of your stay.
Spring andautumn seem to us to be the most pleasant seasons. The light is softer, the beaches calmer and the town has a more subdued atmosphere, ideal for enjoying walks, spas and fine dining without the summer crowds.
Summer also attracts visitors with its liveliness, long days and events, but attendance is higher. This is a great time of year if you like the energy of seaside resorts, but plan to book accommodation and restaurants in advance.
We really appreciatewinter, when Deauville takes on a more private face. Between the high tides, invigorating walks on the beach and moments of well-being in the warmth, it’s a season conducive to a more introspective and soothing stay, perfect for slowing down and finding yourself for a weekend.

How to get to Deauville
The easiest way to get to Deauville is by car.
But if you’re coming from Caen or Paris, you can also get there by train. The station is very charming and pleasant.

Deauville also has a small airport, 10 minutes from the town. But thefts are not frequent.

Parking in Deauville
Pay parking is available in the city center, but if you’re looking for a street further away, you can find free spaces.
Alternatively, at sea level, large pay parking lots are also available.
Getting around Deauville
Deauville is a fairly flat town with large, well-maintained streets. It’s easy to explore all the neighborhoods on foot.
Alternatively, you can take a 45-minute guided tour (in French and English) of the city on the tourist train.
