Among thehotel offer near the Mont-Saint-Michel, the hotel le Manoir de Roche Torin is really a good option for several reasons:
- You will sleep in an authentic manor house built in 1800 with a really surprising history that could have made it a place of pilgrimage too. But we’ll tell you about that a little further down.

- From the park of the Manor, you will enjoy one of theone of the most beautiful views on the marshes as far as the eye can see, with the Mont Saint Michel in the distance, which seems to come out of a misty dream. Is the Manoir de la Roche Torin hotel worth it? Our review
Undeniably, the Manoir de la Roche Torin is an option to consider if you need to spend one or more nights around the Mont Saint Michel.
After the touristy atmosphere of the main street of the Mont, we appreciated the calm of the place, a real incentive to quietness and reflection. A nice way to step back and assimilate the richness of the monuments discovered on the Mont Saint Michel.
We who are great lovers of natural landscapes without artifice, we loved our walk off the cape of Roche Torin, with the Mont Saint-Michel as a landmark and surrounded by these thousand and one shades of colors and materials. A beautiful memory…

A MAGICAL EXPERIENCE AT Mont-Saint-Michel
Step 1: Plan and get there

Step 2: Decide on your program

Step 3: decide where to sleep

Decoration and atmosphere

The hotel is on a human scale with only fifteen rooms, and even if the decoration of the rooms is very wise, the show is outside!
The most beautiful rooms have a private terrace and some have a beautiful fireplace.

To play with your senses, the hotel offers a collection of scented candles that will take you from the gardens of Babylon to the tea plantations of Yunnan… We love “awakening our senses”, it’s even our goal with this blog!

The breakfast
At the breakfast buffet served in the restaurant room, Normandy PDO cheeses are well represented and complement the more classicsweet offer, with pancakes, cereal baguettes and hot toasts!

History
As promised, let’s look back at theunusual history of this mansion. It is from a former farmhouse that the manor was built around 1800. But what is this little chapel doing in the park?

Property of the Abbot Tréhu, the Manor would shelter since 1865, relics of Saint Valentine!
However, it is difficult to be sure… There are in fact at least 2 canonized saints who bear the name of Valentine and many churches in Europe (Ireland, Belgium, France…) believe they hold part of the relics of this saint very popular with lovers.
The small chapel in the garden of the manor house would still house the precious relics…
Let’s hope, in any case, that thespirit of Valentine’s Day blows to the rooms of the hotel!

The restaurant of the Manoir de la Roche Torin

It is with a beautiful view on the salt meadows and the Mont Saint Michel that you can taste… a salt meadow lamb! It is famous for the tenderness of its flesh and its characteristic taste due to its specific feeding in meadows covered part of the time with sea water.
But if you want to see beyond that, you can go to sea and opt for a beautiful lobster of more than 550g.

As far as wines are concerned, the establishment has the D-Vine, the “Nespresso of wine”, which allows you to taste the best vintages by the glass in ideal conditions of temperature and aeration. We love them since we discovered them in Nantes when they started!
For dessert, we couldn’t resist a small pancake, being not far from the Breton border (but in Norrmandie)!

THE SAME MISTAKE WE MADE
On one of our last trips to Europe, a hacker stole our credit card details while we were using a hotel WiFi.
So our trip began with a “card blocked” call… Not funny at all!

Price range
The proximity of the Mont Saint-Michel and the view have a cost, but it remains affordable for what will remain a beautiful experience.

Our top 3 things to do at Mont-Saint-Michel
Walk to the mount

Many people rush inside the Mont. They get out of their car, get on the shuttle and follow the people inside. But, in our opinion, choosing to walk there from the parking lots is the best option.
The path is flat and easy. Count 40min to 50min of walking.
Enjoy the sea air and the changing landscape as you approach the mountain; with the dam, fields, sand…
The anticipation makes the experience even better!
Visit the Abbey

The jewel of Mont-Saint-Michel is of course the abbey built over the centuries on top of this rocky island.
It is a marvel of architecture and history.
It is particularly known for its cloister built in the 13th century, as if suspended between sky and sea.
Be careful, there are a lot of stairs to visit it.
And you have to book your visit before – bookhere

Explore the ramparts

In addition to the main street and the abbey, do not miss the ramparts.
We recommend that when you arrive at Mont-Saint-Michel, you go up to the abbey by the ramparts and come back down by the main street or other alleys.
Going up the covered way offers you views of the village, the roofs, the abbey and the bay. Probably our favorite part of the visit to the Mont outside the abbey.
