In this article, you’ll find our reviews of what we think are the best restaurants to eat at in Rouen.
The range of restaurants in the Normandy capital is wide and varied, with excellent eateries to suit all tastes and prices. You’ll discover a cuisine of land and sea that sublimates the products of Normandy’s terroir. We strongly advise you to book a table for all the above establishments whenever possible.
Culinary discovery is an integral part of the journey andexperience. We’re convinced that eating well, even on vacation, is a real priority. Let’s eat!
This opinion is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the area anonymously, making our own choices, and paying all our bills in full.
Rouen’s best restaurants: our 3 favourites
In this article, you’ll find detailed reviews of each of our selected establishments. But we couldn’t resist sharing our favorite restaurants with you right now:
- Restaurant L’Odas (1 star): an excellent Michelin-starred establishment in Rouen, driven by the instinct and intention of chef Olivier Da Silva. The menu between land and sea offers several different rhythms: between 3 and 7 beats at lunchtime or 5 and 7 beats in the evening. The chef’s wonders are tasted blind, and our taste buds remember them!
- Restaurant Simone: a relaxed atmosphere for a resolutely creative and daring cuisine, all with a controlled bill – what more could you ask for, except to return often!
- Salon de thé Dame Cakes: a real place for indulgence and relaxation in the heart of Rouen, this tea room is a place we particularly appreciate for its atmosphere and the refinement of its pastries. You can even have lunch there!

Michelin-starred and gourmet restaurants in Rouen
1. Restaurant L’Odas – 1 star
Pushing open the door of this establishment in the heart of Rouen’s old town, we were not disappointed. Chef Olivier Da Silva and his team welcomed us into a chic setting, where raw materials are given pride of place. Velvet armchairs, dark wood tables, large gilded sconces and a wood-planked ceiling adorn the main room, creating a warm ambience.
In this refined, colorful setting, you’ll enjoy a cuisine that blends land and sea, with a hint of citrus to enhance the taste of local, seasonal produce on your plate.
The extensive wine list showcases all the French wine regions, with many grands crus. Don’t hesitate to ask the sommelier for advice, and he’ll be delighted to guide you through the food and wine pairing process. He was a great help during our meal. Champagne, liqueurs and soft drinks are also available to suit your tastes.
On the menu, you’ll be able to choose between 3 to 7-count lunchtime or 5 to 7-count dinnertime formulas, all tasted blind. Lobster has a special place on the chef’s menu. The balance between flavors and textures was close to perfection, with an explosion on the palate.
Also, the sequence of dishes was very well paced, neither too fast nor too slow. We were able to savor every one of the chef’s creations. A must for food lovers.

2. Restaurant Les Nymphéas
Another fine address in the city of a hundred steeples is the gourmet restaurant Les Nymphéas. In a beautiful half-timbered house, you’ll find Norman traditions revisited on your plate. The establishment takes its name from Claude Monet’s famous masterpiece in 8 compositions, exhibited at the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris.
We were immersed in an authentic, rustic setting from the moment we arrived, and crossed a small cobbled alley to reach the restaurant entrance. You can choose to dine indoors or on the courtyard terrace, away from the hustle and bustle of the city’s historic center.
French gastronomy is sublimated by chef Alexandre Dessaux’s savoir-faire: lobster tail à l’armoricaine, oxtail and beef cheek terrine, veal kidneys, duck breast or apple soufflé flambéed in Calvados, there’s something for everyone. 3 menu options are available, including a children’s menu for children under 12.

Located just 2 steps from the antiques district and close to the Halles, Restaurant Simone is so discreet that we passed it without even seeing it!
The room, although on 2 levels, isn’t huge, but it’s decorated with care, and you can already feel a hint of boldness breaking through with the flowery paper and ochre banquettes.
The lunch menu is short (2 starters, 2 main courses and 2 desserts), which is a good sign, and it changes every week, a guarantee of freshness and creativity!
The cuisine is resolutely contemporary, combining local produce with modern touches (pickles, spices…) to liven things up. The dishes are well executed and full of flavor.
