Starred and gourmet restaurants in Bayeux
1. Restaurant L’Alcôve
In the heart of Old Bayeux, the restaurant l’Alcôve offers a bistronomic cuisine that combines local products and Asian influences.
Formerly known as Le P’tit Bistrot, this restaurant has undergone a complete makeover. The chef Romain Huault and his team have succeeded in keeping all the qualities of the establishment, from the welcome to the flavors of the dishes and the service.
In an intimate and cosy atmosphere, the team in the dining room will take care of you to make your meal as pleasant as possible. The place has been completely refurbished in autumn colors for more warmth.
And displayed on your plate is a true palette of colors, flavors and ingredients cooked in different ways. We particularly appreciated the finesse of the marriage of flavors, from the appetizer to the dessert.
The dishes, as beautiful as they were good, went perfectly together to savor and enjoy every moment of the meal.

2. Restaurant La Rapière
Nestled in a small alley in Old Bayeux, the restaurant La Rapière seduced us from every point of view. First, its history: run by a charming couple, Linda in the dining room and Simon in the kitchen, who have been bringing this excellent restaurant to life in the ancient medieval town of Bayeux since 2009.
Then, we particularly liked the setting. The stone walls and the intimate atmosphere of the place in a small alley in the historic heart would almost take us back in time.
Finally, 3 menus in 4 times, each more gourmet than the other, alternate local specialties and inspiration from here and elsewhere:
- the d’Artagnan menu,
- the Atos, Portos and Aramis menu,
- and the vegetarian menu.
As you may have guessed, the name of the restaurant refers to the rapiers of the 3 musketeers, long and thin swords with a flexible blade.
The menu puts the sea in the spotlight. It is mainly composed of regional products, with some unavoidable Norman specialties. Breton curry, French pork ramen, wasabi, sesame or roasted cashew nuts… A touch of creativity invites us to travel and punctuates certain dishes to amplify the flavors.
The dishes were succulent, worked, combining creativity and tradition, with some Norman, Asian or Italian notes in the plate. The team in the dining room was very attentive and provided us with an almost enchanted evening!
Practical information:
- Neighborhood: Old Bayeux.
- Type: gastronomic (Bib Gourmand).

Revive your most beautiful memories through taste thanks to the richness of local producers, this is the promise of this chef who has been awarded for his approach and his gastronomic philosophy. What an art!
You can choose to dine indoors or on the veranda overlooking the English park of the Château de Sully. A very good address in Bayeux for a gourmet and authentic episode in 3 menus: in 4 and 6 times and then on a “discovery” mode of the chef’s cuisine according to the menu and the season.

5. Restaurant L’Alchimie
In the historic heart of the city, the restaurant L’Alchimie is one of the best French cuisine restaurants in Bayeux in our opinion.
A refined and chic decor for more conviviality, tasty and inventive dishes, local products… This gastronomic and family restaurant mixes exoticism and terroir to create a perfect alchemy that reveals itself in your plate.
The menu, where seafood products are widely honored, is quite varied and especially creative! From the starters to the desserts, including the cheese – reblochon stuffed like a nougat in a spicy crust – the chef’s inventiveness and attention to detail are evident in every dish. A remarkable work of association of the flavours from the bitter to the salty, our meal was a real pleasure from the starter to the dessert.

8. Restaurant La Maison B – open on Sunday
Another discovery behind the cathedral and the Baron Gérard Museum of Art and History (MAHB), the restaurant La Maison B welcomed us in an atypical setting. We liked the 1950’s style decoration with its red benches and silver tableware that give it a certain cachet.
À la carte, you will enjoy a generous family cuisine. And all this in a musical atmosphere with decorative details in the room that recall the Landing and the Liberation of 1944.

Lunch or dinner on the banks of the river Aure, admire the old buildings of the Vieux-Bayeux and the little ducks swimming on the water… One could almost describe a painting canvas!
You will find this idyllic setting at the restaurant Le Moulin de la Galette, a charming establishment located opposite the famous Bayeux Tapestry Museum.
The restaurant Le Moulin de la Galette is located in a building full of history because its actual mill is still turning and dates from the Middle Ages. It belonged to the hospital of Bayeux and was used as an oil and flour mill for the inhabitants of the city.
This establishment offers local and truly generous cuisine. It is also a “family friendly” restaurant where your children will be very well received.
To drink, you will have the choice between a selection of house cocktails, AOP and IGP wines, liqueurs, whiskies and rums. But we fell in love with the restaurant’s cider cellar with a delicious artisanal perry from the famous Maison Sassy located in Normandy.
