If you want to explore the city on your own, you can do it all on foot from the hotel. The view of the harbor adds an extra charm, especially at sunrise or sunset.

Yes, we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Ambassadeur. This modern 3-star establishment is conveniently located and offers everything you need for a pleasant stay. It’s not a charming or luxurious establishment, but a safe bet for visiting Cherbourg and the surrounding area in good conditions. - Choose a car that is comfortable enough (distances can be long) but compact (some parking lots and villages are narrow).

Decoration and atmosphere
The hotel’s decor is sober and modern: neutral tones, functional furniture and discreet colorful touches. We found this pleasant, without overloading, reinforcing the practicality and conviviality of the premises.
The room
Our room, which offered a beautiful view of the port, was equipped with comfortable beds, a sofa and a TV. We appreciated the quietness of the room, despite its proximity to the city center. We appreciated the coffee and tea available in the room.

The bathroom
The bathroom, was functional: shower with pmr facilities, hairdryer and toiletries provided. We found it simple but perfectly clean and practical.

The breakfast
We enjoyed the buffet breakfast. It offers a wide choice of sweet and savoury products: pastries, breads, jams, fruit, yoghurts, as well as cold meats, cheeses and eggs.
Coffee and juices complete the picture. We particularly liked the fact that there was a machine where we could make our own pancakes! Accompanied by a spread or maple syrup, we were delighted. A good breakfast is a real plus before facing the Normandy weather, visiting Cherbourg or setting sail for the Channel Islands.
Equipment and common areas
The hotel has a 24-hour reception and a bar. You can also take advantage of free Wi-Fi throughout the establishment. The general atmosphere is friendly and suitable for both tourist and business travelers.

The gym
The Hôtel Ambassadeur has a small gym, ideal for keeping fit even when traveling! It is equipped with cardio machines such as a bike and a treadmill, as well as some weight machines and dumbbells for a more complete workout. The space isn’t huge, but it’s enough for a morning session before setting off to visit Normandy. You’ll appreciate the cleanliness of the place and the fact that you can exercise without leaving the hotel.

How do I get there?
- Cherbourg SNCF train station is a 10-minute walk or 5-minute cab ride away.
- If you’re arriving by car, access is easy from the RN13.
- The marina is just across the road, making it very convenient if you’re traveling by sea.
Parking
The hotel has no private parking facilities, but public pay parking is readily available in the immediate vicinity.
For people with reduced mobility
