Easy to get around these cities

Getting around Bayeux

Rue de la Maîtrise in Bayeux
Ruelle du Vieux-Bayeux

We found Bayeux easy and pleasant to walk around, whatever the season. The historic center is compact, and all the main attractions are just a few minutes’ walk away. You’ll appreciate the tranquility of this human-sized town. However, we advise you to avoid the historic center by car and opt for accommodation with parking.

Getting around Caen

Public transport in Caen

Dynamic and extensive, Caen has a well-developed tramway and bus network. Public transport makes it easy to get around between different districts and attractions. Note that parking can be more complicated in the city center.

Bayeux wins out for the simplicity and charm of exploring on foot, while Caen offers more transport options but in a more urban environment.
