1. Normandy in July – weather forecast
Normandy is known for its oceanic climate. This is especially true on the coasts, where most of the holidaymakers’ favorite towns are located. Temperatures are moderate in both winter and summer. Rainfall is frequent in all seasons, but varies according to local relief and year.
In July, it’s hot. We enjoy hiking without fear of the heat, which is rare. Above all, the skies are often clear.

5. Water temperature – swimming in Normandy in July
July is a great time to swim in Normandy. Warning: if you’re a bit chilly, it’s best to bring a wet suit. Discover the average sea temperature below:

6. Wind in Normandy in July
Ocean means wind. However, in July, Normandy is much less windy than the rest of the year. The coasts are as calm as the inland areas.
7. Crowds and other conditions
July is summer vacation. It’s one of the busiest months for tourists in Normandy. We advise you to book your hotels or campsites well in advance.
Note that the more upscale the establishment, the more sought-after it is.

- Rouen Cathedral of Light
Every summer until the end of September, light shows are projected onto the facades of Rouen Cathedral. The event takes place over many evenings and attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators.
- Art’zimutés Festival in Cherbourg
Between late June and early July, this festival attracts 10,000 spectators for a weekend of music.
- Festival Cabourg Mon amour
10,000 spectators attend this three-day music festival on the beaches of Cabourg in early July.
- Rush festival in Rouen
12,000 people visit Rouen between late June and early July for three to six days of concerts at various venues around the city.
- Bayeux medieval festival
These are the third-largest medieval festivals in France. 60,000 people flock here in early July to enjoy the market, medieval culinary village, games, parades, concerts and more.
- Beauregard Festival in Hérouville-Saint-Clair, near Caen
This huge festival attracts 150,000 spectators at the beginning of July for five days of concerts, with big names such as Muse, Angèle, Sting and Damso.
- Thursday terraces in Rouen
The concept of this festival? Concerts every Thursday in July. They attract around 30,000 people.
- Green River Valley Festival in Mont-Saint-Michel Bay
In mid-July, 12,000 spectators attend two days of concerts and conferences focusing on a chosen cause.
- Festival Chauffer dans la Noirceur at Montmartin-sur-Mer
This eco-responsible music festival takes place over four days of concerts in mid-July and welcomes 16,000 spectators.
- Art Sonic Festival in Briouze
Between 15,000 and 25,000 festival-goers attend two days of concerts in July.
- Great Tides Festival in the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel
This festival welcomes over 20,000 spectators for a week of concerts in one of the towns around Mont-Saint-Michel in late July or early August.
- Biker descent in Fécamp
More than 5,000 bikers parade through the streets of Fécamp to the delight of 20,000 spectators.
- French Flyair to Deauville or Trouville-sur-Mer
Civilian and military aviator demonstrations drew at least 20,000 people to the beaches of Deauville and Trouville-sur-Mer.
- Estivales at Cabourg racecourse
These summer horse races attract over 100,000 spectators every year. There are also competitions for gallopers and jockeys, and a variety of other events.
- Retrofestival in Caen
35,000 visitors flock to the Caen racecourse for this three-day classic car festival.
- Sea festivals
These traditional festivities take place mainly between June and September, in the various coastal towns of Normandy. They celebrate the sea and its products. The duration of the festivities varies from town to town. They can be found in many towns: Le Havre, Bricqueville-sur-Mer, Luc-sur-Mer, Yport, Saint-Valéry en Caux and many more.
