What you will eat
Time to eat! On the à la carte menu, we discovered a fine variety of traditional and regional dishes, featuring local, quality produce. You can start your meal with classic starters like snails or fresh oysters, before indulging in generously-stocked seafood platters. Or perhaps you’d prefer Paillette’s special sauerkraut, with black pudding, garlic sausage, smoked sausage, smoked ham and steamed potatoes?
Main courses are served in generous portions, with a mastery of cooking that guarantees authentic, balanced flavors. You can also choose from a selection of mature meats, tartars and fish, as well as more typical dishes such as andouillette. Note that there are also a few vegetarian options. Finally, classic desserts such as tiramisu, crème brûlée or profiteroles will delight your taste buds.

What we ate: scallops with cream sauce, medium-rare rib steak with home fries, tiramisu and profiteroles. We particularly appreciated the generosity of the portions and the quality of the products, in a simple, efficient style that respects tradition.

What you will drink
Did you know that Taverne Paillette takes its name from the former brewer who owned his factories just across the street? If you’re a beer lover, we recommend you try it, as it’s an emblematic speciality of the house! Add a touch of local history to your meal.
We were also able to choose from a varied selection of beverages, with over 10 cold and hot beverage references, as well as some 40 carefully selected wines.

On the wine side, you’ll find regional and national options, with red, white and rosé wines, including some from Alsace and Bordeaux. The sommelier is on hand to guide you in your food and wine pairings, so you can fully appreciate each dish. We recommend that you seek advice to discover the best combinations.
If you prefer cocktails, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, the great classics are available à la carte. Hot beverages, ranging from classic coffees to herbal teas, complete this comprehensive range.
For our part, we drank refreshing Paillette blonde beer, sparkling water and chamomile tea to round off our dinner.

The atmosphere of the restaurant
Restaurant Taverne Paillette is located in the Saint-Vincent district, just a stone’s throw from Square Saint-Roch, a much-loved park we walked through to get there. This district was rebuilt after the Second World War under the direction of the famous architect Auguste Perret. As soon as you enter the restaurant building, you’ll be welcomed into a warm and authentic setting, true to the spirit of traditional brasseries.
Once through the door, the interior design reminded us of the Bavarian brasseries of yesteryear, with its large wooden tables, string lights and hushed interior. The space is well laid out, with several air-conditioned rooms, a veranda and a heated outdoor terrace, so you can enjoy the place in any season. We were sitting on the veranda.

You’ll find plenty of fun and entertainment from the moment you arrive! The staff are friendly and professional, offering warm, responsive service. We appreciated the moderate background music, which contributed to a good mood without getting in the way of conversation.
Whether you come with family, friends or for a business meal, you’ll feel at home in a place where tradition and conviviality are at the heart of the experience. It’s also one of the few places in Le Havre open on Sundays.
