The town has a dense historic hypercentre of medieval alleyways where traffic is severely restricted. On-street parking is charged from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 7pm, and spaces become scarce from late morning onwards in the Cathedral district and around the Old Market. We have found that the most fluid time slots are between 10 and 11.30 a.m.: beyond this, the rotation gets out of control and the Red Zone spaces are gone in a matter of minutes. On the other hand, the city has developed a network of well-placed underground parking lots and park-and-ride facilities (P+R) that make it easy to get to the center without stress. If you plan your visit in advance, you&#8217;ll easily find a solution to suit your needs.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Normandie-Lovers\/n-r2MKTJ\/Rouen\/Cath%C3%A9drale-Rouen\/i-4B2MLqv\/1\/b0452bfd\/L\/Cathe%CC%81drale-Rouen-portaillibraires-L.jpg\" alt=\"Rouen Cathedral\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parking in Rouen: summary<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Careful street parking<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On-street parking is subject to zoning regulations, which you should be aware of before you leave your car. The hypercentre &#8211; the area around the Old Market, the <a href=\"https:\/\/normandielovers.fr\/en\/museum-gros-horloge-rouen-clock\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"6619\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gros Horloge<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/normandielovers.fr\/en\/rouen-cathedral-visit\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"7615\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Notre-Dame Cathedral<\/a> &#8211; is classified as a Red Zone. Maximum parking time is 1h30. The Forfait Post-Stationnement (FPS) is \u20ac25 or \u20ac35, depending on the sector. The pericenter, in Zone Orange, offers greater flexibility with a maximum duration of 3.5 hours. In both cases, payment is made by entering the license plate at the pay station or via the PayByPhone and EasyPark applications. Park &amp; Ride facilities are entirely free of charge for users of the Astuce public transport network. In addition, a hundred or so downtown parking spaces offer a free quarter-hour daily, ideal for a quick errand. The Place du Boulingrin surface parking lot offers 2 hours free parking on weekdays, thanks to the blue parking disc. However, there are a few notable sites outside this perimeter, so here are our recommendations for your destination.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where to park to visit the historic center: Rue du Gros-Horloge and Place du Vieux-March\u00e9<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two parking lots compete for first place on Rue du Gros-Horloge and Place du Vieux-March\u00e9. The <strong>Parking Indigo Cath\u00e9drale<\/strong> offers direct pedestrian access to the forecourt of Notre-Dame Cathedral, just a few steps from the Tourist Office. We particularly like the way it exits, putting visitors right in the heart of the historic district, with no detours. Alternatively, the <strong>Parking Q-Park Palais de Justice<\/strong> allows you to reach the Rue du Gros-Horloge in just a few minutes on foot, with direct access to the Mus\u00e9e des Beaux-Arts. Located on Place du G\u00e9n\u00e9ral de Gaulle, it gives immediate access to Rouen town hall and the Abbatiale Saint-Ouen, just a few hundred meters away.
