Saint-Michel by car<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I get to Mont Saint-Michel by car?<\/h3>\n\n<p>Mont-Saint-Michel is easy to reach by car.<br\/>Take the A84 freeway from Caen or Rennes, or the N176 from Saint-Malo.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" Mont-Saint-Michel!<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-element-caption\">A unique environment!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why is it no longer possible to park at the foot of the mountain?<\/h3>\n\n<p>Mont-Saint-Michel is a unique environment in a bay with the most impressive tides in Europe&#8230; and also the 2nd most visited place in France!<br\/>So you can imagine the problem posed by 500,000 cars on this fragile site.<br\/>In 2012, the new system was implemented with to restore wetlands with:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Large tree-lined parking lots a little further from the mountain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vegetated dikes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A hydraulic system to maintain wetlands<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reversible shuttles (that can be driven in 2 directions!)  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Yes, parking has a cost. But the shuttle is free, and so is admission to the mountain. And it&#8217;s a price per car, not per person!  <br\/>Compared to the entrance fee for a visit to a ch\u00e2teau, for example, we find this reasonable.<\/p>\n\n<p>We think it&#8217;s great. This makes arriving on the mountain by shuttle or on foot even more spectacular!<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Normandie-Lovers\/Mont-saint-michel\/Infos\/i-g7Fpknb\/1\/f1f5c7fa\/L\/shuttle_mont_saint_michel-2-L.jpg\" alt=\"Getting to Mont-Saint-Michel\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Getting to Mont-Saint-Michel<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arrival by car at Mont Saint-Michel<\/h3>\n\n<p>When you arrive at Mont-Saint-Michel, be sure to follow the signs for the parking lots and shuttle bus.<br\/>We&#8217;ll explain the different parking numbers in the next section.<\/p>\n\n<p>Above all, don&#8217;t go to &#8220;La Caserne&#8221; or &#8220;Mont-Saint-Michel&#8221; where there&#8217;s an entrance barrier. But be sure to note which parking lot you&#8217;re in!  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Car<\/strong><br\/>If you have a classic car and are visiting for the day, you can use the parking lots:<br\/>P5, P6, P7, P10, P11, P12 and P13<br\/>If they&#8217;re not full, we recommend P10 and P11 for quick access to the shuttle.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Normandie-Lovers\/Mont-saint-michel\/Infos\/i-kLvXXTJ\/1\/68f09320\/L\/parking_mont_saint_michel-1-2-L.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p><strong>Reduced mobility<\/strong><br\/>If you have a disabled person in the car (with an official card), you can park in parking lot P2.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Motorcycle<\/strong><br\/>If you have a motorcycle, you can park in parking lot P9.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Motorhome<\/strong><br\/>If you have a camper van, you can park in parking lot P8.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Hotel guests<\/strong><br\/>If you&#8217;re staying overnight in one of the hotels on the inner-mountain or at La Caserne, go to parking lot P3. You will have to pay in full if you return.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong><br\/>Pick up a ticket at the entrance to your parking zone. It&#8217;s not yet printed on entry, but it will be on exit.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Normandie-Lovers\/Mont-saint-michel\/Infos\/i-jpxZ9rh\/0\/2412a66a\/L\/ticket_parking_Mont-Saint-Michel_prix-L.jpg\" alt=\"Mont-Saint-Michel parking ticket  \"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong><br\/>Keep your parking ticket in a safe place for easy retrieval when you leave.<br\/>You need a ticket to pay.<br\/>If you lose it, you&#8217;ll have to pay between 20 and 55 euros, depending on the season and your vehicle.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Step 4<\/strong><br\/>When you&#8217;re ready to leave, don&#8217;t get into your car just yet, go to one of the pay stations. lot between Saint-James and &#8220;L&#8217;\u00e9picerie de la Baie&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n<p>From Beauvoir, you can reach Mont-Saint-Michel by bike or on foot.<br\/>Don&#8217;t walk on the fast road!<br\/>There&#8217;s a lovely car-free path along the River Couesnon with a constant view of the Mont.  <\/p>\n\n<p>It&#8217;s a 30-minute walk to the Mont-Saint-Michel dam or to the shuttle to Mont-Saint-Michel from the parking lots<\/h2>\n\n<p>Once parked, you can walk or take the shuttle to the mountain.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" icon.<br\/>And line up at the shuttle departure point. It is located between the parking lots and the tourist office.<\/p>\n\n<p>It&#8217;s called &#8220;Le Passeur&#8221; and it&#8217;s very practical.<br\/>In less than 15 minutes you&#8217;ll reach the entrance to the mountain (after 2 stops).<br\/>You can use it as much as you like, going up and down at will.<br\/>Just be aware that it may be full in summer and you&#8217;ll have to wait.<\/p>\n\n<p>Schedules:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>summer: 7:30 a.m. to midnight<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>spring \/ autumn: 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>winter: 8.30 a.m. to 10 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>It is wheelchair accessible.<br\/>Dogs are not allowed on board, except in bags or as guide dogs.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Normandie\/R5b-Approche-Saint-Michel\/i-DFtJR33\/4\/a8a9a56d\/L\/navettes_mont_saint_michel_Normandie-8773-L.jpg\" alt=\"Mont-Saint-Michel shuttle queue  \"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>It stops 350m from the entrance to the mountain and the ramparts.
