When we stay in a hotel, we remain anonymous and pay in full.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sleeping on the Mont-Saint-Michel, is it worth it?<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why spend a night on the Mont-Saint-Michel<\/h3>\n\n<p>To be honest, we were skeptical before spending the night at Mont-Saint-Michel. The ratings of the hotels within the city are not excellent and we wondered if it was really worth it since you can&#8217;t see the mountain when you sleep on it&#8230;<br\/>Well, our answer is <strong>YES, absolutely<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Normandie-Lovers\/Mont-saint-michel\/Nuit\/i-bg3zgzQ\/1\/673d47ce\/L\/nuit_Mont_saint_Michel_night-03-L.jpg\" alt=\"The streets of Mont-Saint-Michel by night\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/searchresults.html?city=900039327&amp;nflt=review_score%253D90%253Breview_score%253D80&amp;aid=2281719&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">The hotels<\/a> are quite decent, with nice rooms. It is easy to walk 200m on the footbridge to appreciate the Mount at night. This is not a good base for your vacation in the area.<br\/>To reach your car, you have to walk or take a shuttle. There are many people during the day etc.<br\/>The Mount can be visited very well in 1 to 2 days.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Normandie-Lovers\/Mont-saint-michel\/Infos\/i-g7Fpknb\/0\/9e9d1f3d\/L\/shuttle_mont_saint_michel-2-L.jpg\" alt=\"Walk or shuttle to Mont-Saint-Michel  \"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The reality of sleeping on the Mount &#8211; and why hotel ratings are low<\/h3>\n\n<p>After seeing a couple complain to an employee on Mont-Saint-Michel, and hearing the type of complaints, I understand better why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/searchresults.html?city=900039327&amp;nflt=review_score%253D90%253Breview_score%253D80&amp;aid=2281719&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">the grades are low<\/a> when it is not deserved.  <br\/>You can&#8217;t have the same expectations as for a classic hotel!<br\/>The village was built on a small rocky island several centuries ago, which is what makes its charm.<br\/>But it also implies:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The streets are very steep, and there are many stairs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The houses are small and have small rooms <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is a labyrinth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can&#8217;t have a view of the Mount, since you are on top of it!!!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Normandie-Lovers\/Mont-saint-michel\/Hotels\/i-6xwcGRL\/1\/5f1399ba\/L\/croix_blanches_hotel_Mont_saint-Michel-08-L.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">View of the bay from a hotel room<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>But people complain about the difficulty of access to the rooms, the size of the rooms&#8230;<\/p>\n\n<p>Be realistic and adjust your expectations!<\/p>\n\n<p>Note that:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>not all rooms have a bay view<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the least expensive rooms in each hotel are less renovated, less large or without a view<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Many steps inside hotels, few elevators<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>rooms under the roof will have smaller windows<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The rooms are scattered in different houses (which are not above the reception&#8230;)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Most of them do not have air conditioning!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The wi-fi is not excellent&#8230;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and the prices are high because the place is unique<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hotels on Mont-Saint-Michel (intra-muros) &#8211; Map<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Normandie-Lovers\/Mont-saint-michel\/Hotels\/i-V5M6Nzc\/1\/41d112a8\/L\/mouton_blanc_hotel_Mont_saint-Michel-04-L.jpg\" alt=\"hotel room on the Mont-Saint-Michel  \"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hotels on the Mont-Saint-Michel<\/h3>\n\n<p>We confirm that we are talking about the hotels on the island. So, if you have a choice of when to visit, watch the tidal coefficients.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Normandie-Lovers\/Mont-saint-michel\/Acces-a-pied\/i-ctGwT8s\/1\/5cb8cb5f\/L\/acces_mont_saint_michel-16-L.jpg\" alt=\"access to Mont-Saint-Michel on foot\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Choose a room with a view of the Bay<\/h3>\n\n<p>If you can afford them, I recommend getting a room with a view of the Bay. Sit back and listen to the quiet when evening comes, observe this flat expanse, and the truly unusual rock built in the middle of the Bay.  <br\/>And if you have chosen well with the tides, you will be able to see quietly from your room the landscape change.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Normandie-Lovers\/Mont-saint-michel\/Hotels\/i-RRBjKDc\/1\/c2240d44\/L\/croix_blanches_hotel_Mont_saint-Michel-10-L.jpg\" alt=\"room with view on the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Take only a small bag<\/h3>\n\n<p>Hotels will advise you in an email, but many people don&#8217;t take the time to read them. So we warn you here, do not bring a big suitcase! (or even worse, 2&#8230; we saw a couple with 2 suitcases each!!!).<br\/>You will have to: take a shuttle, walk on cobblestone streets and climb a lot of stairs sometimes narrow&#8230; leave your suitcase in your car and bring only what you need for the night!<\/p>\n\n<p>If you are not driving, there is a luggage drop-off point in the tourist office near the parking lots.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Normandie-Lovers\/Mont-saint-michel\/Nuit\/i-s3hz7bd\/1\/9a046f04\/L\/nuit_Mont_saint_Michel_night-41-L.jpg\" alt=\"Stairs on the Mont-Saint-Michel\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parking code P3<\/h3>\n\n<p>For the people who sleep on the Mont-Saint-Michel (within the walls), there is a dedicated parking: the P3. But you need a code to be allowed in. She has a lot of charm.<br\/>In the breakfast room, you don&#8217;t know where to look because it is so fascinating: the beams on the ceiling, the windows and their crosspieces, the fireplace or the half-timbered walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As with all hotels, expect to climb many steps to reach the rooms. Some of them also have charming beams but not all of them overlook the bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the hotel where you will have the most historical atmosphere. This is for those with a smaller budget.<br\/>But if you can, the rooms in the other building with sea view offer you terraces and balconies with breathtaking views.<br\/>This is the right option for you if having an exterior is essential. This is rare on the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But again, to get this view, you have to climb a lot of steps.<br\/>We really liked the terrace. This is due to its restaurant and its famous omelet inflator on a wood fire.<br\/>But it&#8217;s not just a restaurant. Above these famous red doors, you can access the rooms by a magnificent historical staircase.  <br\/>And some of these rooms have a view of the bay.
