Is Domfront worth a visit?<\/h2>\n\n

The medieval town of Domfront-en-Poiraie<\/strong> is well worth a visit. We loved its cobbled streets<\/strong>, half-timbered houses<\/strong> and the remains of its medieval castle <\/strong>, with its panoramic view over the Varenne cluse. TheChurch of St. Julien<\/strong>, with its modern concrete structure, is original and surprising in these surroundings.<\/p>\n\n

In our opinion, Domfront<\/strong> is one of the most beautiful towns in Normandy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

1. Remains of the medieval castle<\/h2>\n\n

Situated on a rocky outcrop overlooking the region, Domfront Castle<\/strong> endured 13 sieges<\/strong> before being dismantled in 1610 by Henri IV<\/strong>, on Sully’s orders. Its remains date back to the 11th century<\/strong>. These include the ruins of the Chapelle Saint-Symphorien<\/strong> and the imposing keep<\/strong>, which we photographed from every angle.<\/p>\n\n
