<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most famous building in the village is the church.<br\/>France has many old churches. But I must admit that this one surprised me. It has a very unique architecture.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her name is Saint-Nicolas. The present church was built between the 17th and 19th centuries (it has already been destroyed twice).<br\/>It is located at the end of the village, at the seaside, with the cemetery.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Normandie\/R9d-barfleur\/i-kZp74Xb\/3\/025c7904\/L\/eglise_Barfleur_Normandie-0472-L.jpg\" alt=\"Church of Saint Nicolas barfleur 1\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Saint Nicolas Church<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you can see on the picture above, it has a variety of roof shapes: classic triangular, square tower, dome, angular&#8230; There is no boring angle to look at it.<br\/>But what I find most surprising is the square tower. Thanks to it, the church looks like a small castle. It is not large and will not take much time.<br\/>You won&#8217;t find the half-timbered houses that Normandy is famous for. After that, it remained a smaller village.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was also a strategic location during World War II: Occupied by the Germans and then used by the Americans to bring supplies.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, it is mainly a leisure and fishing port. What makes them so special?<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They are very tasty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They have a lot of flesh compared to farmed mussels<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They grow in a natural environment and are caught<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The season extends from June to the end of October. They are normally served with cider or cream<br\/>Note that it is a wild species. just south of Barfleur and Saint Vaast (40min drive)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cherbourg and the impressive maritime museum &#8220;Cit\u00e9 de la Mer&#8221; (30min drive)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The west coast of the peninsula with beautiful cliffs and sand dunes &#8211;
