You could spend a whole day on it, it&#8217;s so packed with information and features. This work, embroidered on linen canvas, is on display at the former Grand S\u00e9minaire de Bayeux (formerly a Catholic higher education establishment).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bayeux Tapestry is actually an exceptional embroidery of woolen threads on linen canvas. It illustrates the 11th-century Conquest of England by William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy who became King of England in 1066 after the Battle of Hastings. Airborne Museum<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/photos\/i-2rrTg8t\/1\/6e8894a3\/L\/i-2rrTg8t-L.jpg\" alt=\"Airborne Museum\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why visit &#8211; our opinion<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Normandy Airborne Museum is dedicated to the American paratroopers who arrived just as D-Day began.<br\/>The museum faces the church, which many will recognize because parachutist John Steele became famous for hanging from its steeple.<br\/>The museum has 3 buildings: WACO which focuses on gliders, C-47 which explains the preparations for D-Day and Operation Neptune to give you the experience of a night jump with their &#8220;hyperrealistic museography&#8221;.<br\/><a href=\"https:\/\/normandielovers.fr\/en\/airborne-museum-sainte-mere-eglise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">See our article on the Airborne Museum<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We particularly liked it:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We particularly appreciated the discovery of the<strong> American Waco glider<\/strong> in the first pavilion. We were lucky enough to<strong>board the<\/strong> full-size<strong>plane<\/strong> and imagine ourselves in the shoes of American paratroopers. This is <strong>the only example in France<\/strong> of a Waco glider still in its entirety. Thanks to the Histopad (touchscreen tablet provided), we could even visualize ourselves at the controls of the machine!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the C-47 building, we also loved<strong> the interactive<\/strong> staging. We were able to <strong>attend the briefing of the parachutists<\/strong> with a <strong>hologram<\/strong> more real than life, and prepare to jump with them. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally in the building &#8220;<strong> <\/strong>Op\u00e9ration Neptune&#8221;, <strong>the passage through the 4D aircraft<\/strong> <strong>immersed<\/strong> us <strong>in the action<\/strong>. Our review<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Scriptorial d&#8217;Avranches is the only museum in France dedicated to the presentation of ancient manuscripts from the 9th to the 15th centuries. You can admire the art of writing at its apogee through the magnificent collection of the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel on display in this museum. But also very beautiful sculptures, paintings and several sacred objects.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For us, this museum is really worth the trip! The Scriptorial is very modern, with many fascinating explanations on the secrets of the first books and the story of the creation of the &#8220;Wonder&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amazed by the beauty and authenticity of the well-preserved manuscripts, you&#8217;re sure to enjoy the museum&#8217;s original, interactive itinerary. It combines educational panels, indoor exhibits and digital tools to help visitors better understand the importance of this manuscript collection. We discovered incredible paintings, sculptures and other objets d&#8217;art dating from the 15th century to the present day. Our review<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Overlord museum is not on the beach, but only a few minutes&#8217; drive fromOmaha Beach, in Colleville-sur-Mer.<br\/>Its name refers to Operation Overlord, the code name for the Allied invasion of the Normandy beaches.<br\/>The museum covers the D-Day landings through to the liberation of Paris. It focuses on the entire period from the end of his life to his posterity. The palace itself was the setting for the 2 trials of the famous Pucelle d&#8217;Orl\u00e9ans. She was burnt alive in 1431 in the Place du Vieux-March\u00e9, aged just 19 at the time. While it is considered a benchmark museum for 17th- and 18th-century European painting, contemporary art also has a place in the museum&#8217;s avant-garde galleries and sculpture park! With a wealth of great names in painting (Rembrandt, D\u00fcrer, Perugino, Monet&#8230;), you can admire masterpieces of all genres (landscapes, portraits&#8230;).
